In the United States there is a shortage of people entering aviation and other STEM related fields. According to the National Association of Manufacturing, there will be 3.5 million STEM jobs by 2025 and more than 2 million of them will go unfilled because of the lack of highly skilled candidates.

We want you to create a video commercial promoting one of these STEM career fields to people your age!

3 Grand Prize Winners

will win a flight with the Aerostars Demo Team the weekend of the Air Show (June 10-12th).

20 Finalists

will receive an invitation for 2 to our Performer Reception the evening of June 10th where they will have the opportunity to meet Air Show Pilots and Performers.

Make sure your commercial includes:

Topic! Clear STEM-related field
Description! Provides an accurate description of what a person in this career field does.
Importance! Explains why is this career field important and why it is necessary that we have people go into this field.
Learn More! Tell your audience where they can go to learn more about this field
Make it Interesting! Appeals to young people (your peers) and makes them want to go learn more about this STEM field.

Nurses • Doctors • Healthcare Specialists • Engineers • IT Analysts • Software Developers • Programmers • Mathematicians • Statisticians • Data Scientists • Accountants • Aviation Maintenance Technicians • Pilots • Air Traffic Controllers

Guidlines:

Must be 12-23 years of age to enter.

Commercial should be no longer than 60 seconds.

Shoot your video with your camera facing upright (vertical).

Signed release waiver must accompany your entry. Please upload with your video.

Video file should be .MP4 or .MOV file format.

No family members of the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show and STEM Expo are eligible to win.

We have the right to publish the names and videos of contest applicants.

Ways to Win:

All videos will be reviewed and posted to the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show and STEM Expo website for a public voting session. The winner who receives the most votes from the public (encourage your peers to vote!) will automatically win one of the Aerostars flights and invitation to the Performer Reception on June 10th. The other two winners will be selected by the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show and STEM Expo Executive Committee. All finalists will be contacted the week of May 16, 2022.

Young Aviators is primarily targeted at high school age youth to raise awareness towards careers in aviation (primarily pilot focused.)

The ride experience with the Phillips® 66 Aerostars (meeting with the team, pre and post flight briefings and the ride itself) takes about 90 minutes for each 3 ship ride. For operational and safety reasons, riders are limited to 180 pounds maximum weight and 6 feet maximum height. They must be capable of boarding and deplaning without assistance. The height/weight requirements are firm and, to avoid disappointment, it's very important that contest participants are made aware of this prior to contest entry. All riders are required to sign a release and if the rider is under the legal age, a parent or legal guardian will need to accompany their youth to personally verify permission for the ride.
