Spirit of St. Louis Air Show®

Media Credential Policy

Media credentials for the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo are issued on a limited and highly restricted basis and are intended solely to support bona fide news coverage of the event.

The Air Show is a private event on private and controlled property. Media access is a privilege, not a right.

Eligible Media

Media credentials will be considered only for the following:

  • Broadcast television news organizations (local, regional, or national)
  • Broadcast radio news
  • Established print newspapers
  • Recognized national or regional wire services

All applicants must be:

  • Actively engaged in news gathering
  • On formal assignment from a qualifying outlet
  • Covering the event for editorial news purposes only

Explicitly Not Eligible

The following will not be credentialed under any circumstances:

  • Bloggers, vloggers, influencers, streamers, podcasters, or social media creators
  • Digital-only outlets without a traditional newsroom structure
  • Aviation hobbyist publications or enthusiast sites
  • Freelancers without a signed assignment letter from an eligible outlet
  • Documentary, feature, or long-form film projects without pre-discussion
  • Commercial photographers or videographers
  • Marketing, branding, advertising, or PR representatives
  • Nonprofit, corporate, or government communications teams without pre-discussion
  • Individuals seeking access primarily for photography, videography, or content creation

These individuals are welcome to purchase tickets and cover the event as private individuals as long as their coverage does not negatively impact other attendees.

Application Requirements (Mandatory)

All credential requests must include:

  • Completed official credential request form
  • Letter of assignment on outlet letterhead
  • Editor or news director contact information
  • Proof of recent air show, aviation, or major event news coverage

Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

Submission does not imply approval.

Credential Limits & Access

  • Credentials are issued per person, are non-transferable, and may not be shared
  • Approval may be limited by outlet, role, or day
  • Credentials grant access only to specifically designated media areas
  • No access to flight lines, aircraft, performers, restricted zones, or secured areas unless expressly authorized in writing
  • All movement is subject to real-time security and operational restrictions

Conduct, Safety & Compliance

Credentialed media must:

  • Follow all instructions from Air Show staff, FAA officials, law enforcement, military personnel, and security teams
  • Comply with all FAA, TSA, DHS, and DoD regulations where applicable
  • Immediately cease activity or vacate areas when directed
  • Avoid any interference with flight operations, performers, or spectators

Failure to comply will result in immediate revocation without appeal.

Use of Material

  • All footage, images, and audio captured under a media credential are for news reporting purposes only
  • Commercial, promotional, or monetized use is strictly prohibited without prior written consent
  • Live streaming or real-time broadcasting from non-designated areas is prohibited unless expressly authorized

Revocation & Enforcement

The Spirit of St. Louis Air Show reserves the absolute right to:

  • Deny or revoke credentials at any time, for any reason
  • Restrict access based on safety, security, weather, operational needs, or capacity
  • Remove any individual from the premises without refund or compensation

All decisions are final.
