The Aero Spacelines “Super Guppy” is a large, wide-bodied cargo aircraft that is used for hauling outsize cargo components. The “Super Guppy” is the only airplane in the world that has carried a complete S-IVB stage, the third stage of the Saturn V rocket. The “Super Guppy” performed this role several times during the Apollo program.

The “Super Guppy” will be featured on the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo static ramp which allows guests to get up close and personal with the aircraft and pilots, including some that will perform in the show. Some of the highlights in addition to the “Super Guppy” are the “Rise Above P-51 Traveling Exhibit” highlighting the amazing contributions of the Tuskegee Airmen, Boeing C-17 Globemaster III, Boeing KC-135R Stratotanker, B-29 Doc, F-16, C-130W Stinger II, Boeing B-17G “Yankee Lady,” the Sky Soldiers, Douglas C-54 “Spirit of Freedom,” and numerous jets and historic aircraft including the T-45, F-5, Spitfires and Hurricanes.

“This is an amazing and unique aircraft and we are thrilled they are coming to Chesterfield on June 11 & 12,” said John Bales, President of the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show committee and Spirit of St. Louis Airport Director. “This aircraft truly highlights the power of innovation and the impact creativity can have on our space program and in many other areas of STEM.”
