“Moonbeam McSwine” P-51 to Fly in Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo
CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Mar. 11, 2022 - The U.S. Navy Blue Angels return to Chesterfield, June 11-12, for the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo, presented by Boeing. And they will be joined by the Warbird Heritage Foundation’s P51-D Mustang “Moonbeam McSwine,” A-4B Skyhawk, and FG-1D Corsair. All three aircraft will fly in the event.
The North American Aviation P51 Mustang was an American long-range single-seat WWII fighter aircraft that helped ensure Allied air superiority over Europe.

Joining “Moonbeam McSwine” will be the Corsair and Skyhawk. The Corsair was a carrier-capable fighter aircraft that saw service in WWII and the Korean War. The Skyhawk was a post-Korean War jet-powered replacement for the A-1 Skyraider and was flown by the US Navy and the US Marine Corps.
“These are some inspirational aircraft,” said John Bales, President of the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show committee and Spirit of St. Louis Airport Director. “We want our guests to look to the skies and be inspired. And then, through the impact of our huge STEM Expo, we want to guide that inspiration into some amazing careers and opportunities for young people.”
In addition to “Moonbean McSwine,” the Skyhawk, the Corsair, and the U.S. Navy Blue Angels, the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo, presented by Boeing, will feature an additional P-51 (the CAF Red Tail P-51 Mustang), F-35, Spitfires, Hurricanes, a Mosquito, Skip Stewart, Matt Younkin in his Beech 18, “Yankee Lady” B-17G, B-29 “Doc,” the Phillips 66 Team, the PB4Y-2 Privateer, the US Army Black Daggers and other amazing acts to be announced in the coming months.
