B-17G “Yankee Lady” to Make First Appearance in Chesterfield in 2022

CHESTERFIELD, Mo., Feb. 8, 2021 – The Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in June 2022, headlined by the US Navy Blue Angels, will also feature the fully-restored B-17G “Yankee Lady” Flying Fortress bomber. This historic aircraft flew as part of the US Coast Guard, was used as an air tanker to fight forest fires, and was featured in the 1969 movie “Tora, Tora, Tora.”

“These Flying Fortresses are synonymous with heroism and sacrifice during World War II,” said John Bales, President of the Spirit of St. Louis Air Show committee and Spirit of St. Louis Airport Director. “This will be the first time the ‘Yankee Lady’ will perform in Chesterfield and we are thrilled we will be able to experience this amazing historic aircraft in the air and on the ground as part of our honoring of America’s Veterans.”

The B-17G “Yankee Lady” will perform both days during the 2022 event, and will be open for public tours while on the ground as part of a huge static display ramp.

Additional performers will be announced throughout 2021 and 2022.

The 2022 Spirit of St. Louis Air Show & STEM Expo is scheduled for June 11-12 at the Spirit of St. Louis Airport in Chesterfield. Previous air shows have been held there in 2014, 2016, 2018 and 2019. In addition to the extensive static ramp and air show performances on both days, the event will feature the large, interactive STEM Expo and the Veteran-honoring Patriots Landing.

All tickets will be sold online only. Check out the website at www.spirit-airshow.com for details and updates on when tickets will be available.

“We are looking forward to bringing another amazing and inspirational STEM event to the St. Louis region,” said Bales. “And we look forward to hosting all our guests in a safe and healthy environment and bringing them memories they will talk about for a lifetime.”
